"We will either let our situation affect our attitudes, or we can let our attitudes change our situation. We can rise above the junk that weighs us down if we always remember that everythingwe do, we do it for God."
Colossians 3:23

About

Rise Above Ministries focuses on sharing God’s strength and hope to individuals and families. To empower them to “Rise Above” the bondage and brokenness of addiction and other life controlling issues.

We address the heart issues of the addiction and/or harmful behavior through a biblical perspective.  Our goal is to expose the root issue and find freedom through God’s Word.  We have found that a combination of our weekly “Heart of Addiction” study group and biblical counseling, will empower the individual to transform from the old identity into a new identity in Christ. Sobriety is then a by-product of that new-found identity. No longer yoked to labels of: addict – alcoholic – broken or hopeless. Individuals began to live free as the redeemed, restored, and loved child of God.

Mission Statement

Empowering others to experience freedom from addiction and life controlling issues thru the transforming power of grace!

What we do

  1. Connecting the desire to change with the power to change
  2. Equipping marriages/families to walk out of the wreckage of addiction into restoration
  3. Creating a community within our Heart of Addiction group, to share, learn and grow using God’s Word as our guide
  4. Liberating the addict from the old identity into a new Identity in Christ
  5. Breaking the yoke of bondage thru individual and/or marriage Biblical counseling
  6. Crisis Prevention
  7. Accountable living through Heart of Addiction community, local church and/or sober living home placement
  8. Transition Support – For those working our program, we offer support in job searching, housing, financial and court issues.

What we believe

  1. The power of Christ has given us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).
  2. In Christ, we have a new identity no longer identified by our addiction or our sin (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  3. Our life is about growing in our knowledge of God, not about pursuing sobriety. Sobriety will be an outcome of obedience to Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit at work within us. (Colossians 1:9-10, Galatians 5:16).
  4. We live in Christian community so we may be built up, encouraged in our faith and grow in our knowledge of God (Colossians 2:7, Hebrews 10:24-25, Galatians 6:1).
  5. The good news of the gospel is, not only that can we be saved by Christ, but that we are being renewed into the image of Christ.
  6. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  7. Through surrender to Jesus Christ, addiction/life controlling issues is rendered powerless

1

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Isaiah 61:1

2

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

4

And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
Isaiah 61:1-4

I have had the honor of serving as Bobby and Ronette’s pastor for many years.  Watching their testimony come to fruition has been an inspiration to not only myself, but our entire church.  Rise Above Ministries is poised to make a great impact through the incredible testimony of Bobby and Ronette Wallace.  2 Corinthians 1:4 reads, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”  I truly believe that their lives are a living testimony of how we are called to “rise above” the circumstances of this world and use it to bring glory to God by helping those around us.  It is an honor to watch something that the enemy meant to harm them with become the very thing God uses to help set others free.
